HOW THE PURCHASING PROCESS WORKS (scroll down for GO TO STORE link)

 

1.  Sales are for delivery within Uruguay only.

 

2.  Prices quoted are the full, delivered price.  Shipping is included and there is no I.V.A. (value added tax) on books.

 

3.  Prices are quoted in Uruguayan pesos.  For example, one hundred pesos, written as $U100.00 is roughly $2.40 US dollars.  One thousand pesos is roughly $24.00 US dollars.  Note that peso prices in Uruguay are normally written with the periods and commas in the reverse positions from where you would see them in the USA and most Western countries, but here they are displayed in USA format.

 

4.  Payments are made through South America’s largest payment gateway, Mercado Pago, with all of their Uruguayan payment methods available, including international and domestic credit and debit cards, cash payments through the Redpagos or Abitab systems, the Mercado Pago app, and via customer accounts with Mercado Pago.  The Mercado Pago payment page is in Spanish, but you can use your browser settings to translate it into English, if you prefer.

 

5.  Deliveries are made by Uruguay’s leading e-commerce logistics courier, UES.   

 

6.  Receipt of the delivered books requires the customer’s identification and signature.

 

7.  There are two UES delivery options you can select from:

 

     a.  Delivery to one of UES’s roughly 90 convenient pickup points which are spread around the country. This option is highly recommended, due to the complicated address system in Uruguay, particularly for homes. Pick up at a UES location is the “no fail” option that keeps it simple!  You can see the UES locations here, and they can be selected during the ordering process.

 

     b.  Delivery to a home or business address.  This method is not recommended, unless you have an easily identifiable address, are sure you will be home during delivery hours, and speak Spanish fluently enough to converse with delivery drivers to coordinate delivery details if they call you. For delivery to your address, your Uruguay phone number must be provided, and it is highly recommended that you include the latitude and longitude of the delivery address.    c.  If your address details are very clear, and in the Montevideo area, UruXpat may elect to have our book distributor do the delivery.

8.  Undeliverable Orders:

 

   a.  For deliveries to a UES pickup point, if you fail to collect your order and it is returned, you will be responsible for any UES re-shipment costs. 

 

  b.  For delivery to a home or business address, if location coordinates are not provided and UES is not able to find the address or coordinate with you by phone, you will be responsible for any UES re-shipment costs.

 

9.  For placing orders, it is recommended that you avoid using the Safari browser, and instead use Google Chrome, Firefox or some other choice.
